[My Hero, Hope - São Paulo, 2020]

The mural at 1313 Maestro Cardim Street in São Paulo was born as a gesture of homage. Faced with the overwhelming force of the pandemic that marked 2020 in Brazil and around the world, I felt the urgency to create an artistic intervention that dialogued with that delicate moment.

The challenge was to translate, through the image, a feeling of comfort that could touch everyone - something subtle but full of hope. I wanted the work to communicate both with those who were isolated at home and with those who were facing their own ghosts and daily battles of the covid on the front line.

The central figure of the boy represents this living hope, which in childhood finds strength in its heroes and heroines. He is a symbol of faith in the future - a reflection of the courage and fantasy that endure even in the darkest days.

This work was only possible thanks to my partnership with the cultural producer Luan Cardoso, who was essential in encouraging me to transpose my style - until then centered on ink and watercolor - to the scale of urban murals.

Based on a rereading of an old drawing, I created an image in honor of all the health professionals who bravely risk their lives to take care of ours. This is a tribute that eternalizes their dedication. And they will not be forgotten.
