[Icarus - 2024]

Icarus is a visual and narrative journey that explores the collapse of the Earth in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk dystopia. Inspired by the Greek myth of Icarus, this project interweaves environmental criticism, historical context and striking visuals into a story about humanity's unbridled ambition and its catastrophic consequences.

The name Icarus is inspired by the mythological figure whose wax wings melted when he flew too close to the sun - a symbol of humanity's unchecked ambition and the importance of balance. In this story, the Space Age has become humanity's biggest gamble. Fueled by the dreams of corporate titans and visionaries, the race to colonize the stars promised a new beginning for everyone. Orbital sanctuaries and colonies on Mars were even erected, but unlike what was promised, this new reality only benefited a privileged few. For the rest of humanity, Earth - a once vibrant home - was left behind, transformed into an arid and inhospitable desert, a poignant reminder of how we neglected the only planet we had.

Even so, in the midst of this adverse scenario, the resilience of the species stands out. Some of those left behind have adapted and resisted. Through ingenuity and perseverance, they have redefined survival, proving that even in the most extreme conditions, humanity carries the strength of hope, creativity and life itself against all odds.
